Type Locality and Naming

Mid-South Sichuan. The Dengxiangying Gr was named by the Xichang Party of Geology, Sichuan Bureau of Geology. The type locality is Dengxiangying, Xide County, Sichuan Province.

Synonym: （登相营群）; Xide Gr.


Lithology and Thickness

The Dengxiangying Gr is dominated by meta-sedimentary clastic rock, intercalated with metamorphosed carbonate rock and metamorphosed intermediate volcanic rock. It is subdivided into six formation-level stratigraphic units in ascending order of Songlinping Fm, Shengou Fm, Zegu Fm, Chaowangping Fm, Darezha Fm and Jiupanying Fm [however, the schematic stratigraphic column omitted the Zegu Fm, Chaowangping Fm, Darezha Fm]. Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Base of the group is not seen.

Upper contact

Not given. Regionally (southernmost Sichuan), the next younger unit is the Yanbian Gr (Huangtian Fm)

Regional extent

Mid-South Sichuan. The group spreads in the juncture zone between Xide and Mianning counties.

Age 

The schematic stratigraphic column places Dengxiangying Gr as spanning Xishanian-Yuxian (Ectasian-Stenian), and each of its 5 formations are given equal spans for graphics. The uppermost Jiupanying Fm had been attributed to the Qingbaikou Period of the Neoproterozoic (but there is no detailed Lexicon entry).
